Marva Kelly
President
My name is Marva Kelly, and I am a native of Jamaica West Indies. I am one of two daughters for my mother. I grew up in a small rural community in Jamaica with my mother grandparent, aunt, and uncle. My mother was the matriarch of our little bunch ,so I owe the moralistic values that I possess to my mother, who tried her hardest to help my sister and I to achieve a fulfilling future. Life was not the most comfortable, but I managed to venture out of our small community by going to one of the most prestigious high school in Jamaica .The St Hildas diocesan high school. And after graduating high school ,I attended the Jamaica Institute of Aesthetics, where I graduated and taught the art of skincare for numerous years. From there I became a business owner .Owning my own salon in Kingston Jamaica.
In our small community that we lived , we were fostered to believe that , to help others is the right way, as we needed so much help and attention, because our mother was just a home maker .Who did not achieve a formal education, and our father was very absent from our lives .Community is one of the most important word in my vocabulary ,because our community that we lived in, our neighbors bond together to make sure we were all taken care of.
Our small community shared with our family at the most critical times of our lives ,so at this point in time I will do everything possible to be my brother’s keeper, because I had a lot of brothers who kept my family in tough times. My family immigrated to the United States 23 years ago. At an early stage of moving here, I knew that those seeds that was planted years ago, now germinates into something spectacular .Dorcas’ way was born, We are a community outreach that finds joy in empowering the less fortunate .Helping them to acquire a healthy and sustainable life style.it is not hard to roll our sleeves up, and to reassure the less fortunate that God loves them, and they are not alone . We are currently feeding the homeless in South Lake county and surrounding areas. Our organization is getting ready to embark into a new era of teaching each homeless individual, how to transition into a life of expectancy normalcy and self-sufficiency. Our new projects are: vocational programs, counselling and case management. Transition homes and Low income apartments. We are thrilled to take
on such a task, because after all we are our brothers keeper.
